Located in the heart of the City at Bank Junction, 1 Poultry is a mixed-use commercial development designed by the late Sir James Stirling. M3 led a feasibility exercise to assess potential alterations to the building that could be practically and viably delivered.

A set of sensitive alterations were conceived to respect the building’s iconic architecture whilst delivering more usable commercial and retail floor space. A planning application was submitted comprising a new street-facing office reception along with extensions to the building’s retail frontages to improve the prominence of the retail units at street level. In addition, M3 and the consultant team developed a programme of major refurbishment works for the building’s lifts and central plant to extend the building’s occupational lifespan and mitigate client risk.

Following an intensive consultation period, planning consent was achieved in 2016.
