Consultation on restricting desktop studies for fire performance launched

The Government has published consultation papers in regards to tightening building safety regulations by restricting or banning the use of desktop studies as a means of asssessing fire performance fo external cladding systems.  The use of desktop studies is being considered as part of Dame Judith Hackitt's independent review of building regulations and fire safety following the tragedy at Grenfell Tower.  The results of will inform amendments to Approved Document B (fire safety).
